District Accomplishments

Accomplishments:
* 2011 - Breaking Barriers Award from the State of Iowa
Board of Education for academic achievement
* 2010 - Breaking Barriers Award from the State of Iowa
Board of Education for academic achievement
* began 2012 - Wellness Action Plans developed for all
students and staff in District
* 2012 - New CHS Fitness facility is opened
* 2014 - New
Middle School facility scheduled to open
* 2013 -
Innovation room at Clinton High School scheduled to open
* 2010 - Air-conditioning was added to Bluff and Whittier
elementary schools
* began 2010 - Smoke Detector Project which provides
smoke detectors for every student's home in district
* began 2008 - During the school day the district
provides and administers the ACT to all juniors in the district
* 2007 - Jefferson and Eagle Heights Elementary Schools
opened
* began 2008 - Project Lead the Way Curriculum
(engineering courses) added at Clinton High School
* began 2008 - District-wide implementation of Positive
Behavior Intervention Supports
* began 2007 - Expansion of vocational strands at CHS to
include college credit (Culinary Arts, Welding,
Automotive Trades, Construction
Trades, Health Careers, Child Development, and Family Living)
* began 2008 - AP Vertical Teaming for all 6-12 teachers
in the district
* began 2010 - Whole Class Inquiry (Community of
Learners) expanded in 6-12 Science & Social Studies
* began 2011 - 50% of all in-coming freshmen were
enrolled in an honors class
On-Going Accomplishments:
* Academic Proficiencies in reading comprehension,
mathematics, and science have risen steadily in the past
five years
* All high school students in grades 10-12 are afforded
the opportunity to visit college campuses during the
school day under
the guidance of our school counselors and teachers; school officials give
guidance and time
to students in
preparation of applications for post-secondary opportunities
* PTA & PTSA operate in every school in the district.
The district also has a comprehensive City PTA that
operates and is
recognized as a state leader in Iowa
* Continued expansion of Honors, AP, concurrent, and PSEO
course offerings at Clinton High School, there are
currently (2012)
over 45 different AP, concurrent, and PSEO course offerings
* Partnerships with Clinton Community College and Ashford
University
* Comprehensive before and after-school programming
offered at all elementary and middle schools
* 2 out-of-every 3 students in grades 7-12 participates in
an extra-curricular or co-curricular activity
* The Clinton community has over 100 adult mentors who
work with students in our schools
* Talented and Gifted activities at the elementary
schools are targeted for ALL students
* K-12 comprehensive and award winning fine arts programs
which include the areas of: art, vocal music, band, orchestra,
and
drama
