The following chart lists the graduation requirements for Clinton High School by subject. 
 
 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS for the Classes of 2012-2013

 

50 CREDITS ARE REQUIRED TO GRADUATE

 

LANGUAGE ARTS

8 credits

SOCIAL STUDIES

6 credits

SCIENCE 6 credits

MATHEMATICS

7 credits

WELLNESS

5 credits

FINE ARTS

1 credit

PRACTICAL ARTS

1 credit

English 9 (2)

English 10 (2)

Communications (1)

Literature (1)

Composition (1)

English Elective (1)

Four year colleges will ask for a full fourth year of L.A. (Literature and composition)

US History (2)

Human Civilization (2)

Am. Government (1)

Economics (1)

 

Life Science (2)

Physical Science (2)

Science Electives (2)

Four year colleges will ask for two out the following:  Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Four year colleges will ask for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2

Physical Education (4)

Health (1)

Examples:

Band, Orchestra, Choir, 2-D Art, 3-D Art, Sculpture, Digital Arts or Music Appreciation

Example:

Computer & Information Technology, Introduction to Business, A Journey Through Technical Careers, Metal Processing, Auto, Foods, Adult Living, Child Development, or Introduction to Engineering Design

 

16 Elective credits plus the 34 required credits from above give the students a total of 50 credits.  Electives are any courses that are not required for graduation.  They are exploratory classes in art, business, computer, family and consumer science, industrial technology, world languages, music or advanced study in any required course.

 

COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS

 

It is recommended by four-year liberal arts colleges (and required by some) that students entering college have at least 4 credits of World Languages. Actual requirements vary from college to college. 

Check with your college(s) of choice to determine what classes are required for admission.
