As we approach the 2015-2016 school year, we are excited for so much here at Jefferson and everything the new school year will bring! We are excited this year to hear your hopes and dreams for your children and the hopes and dreams they have for themselves. Whether it is a banker, lawyer or nurse; at Jefferson we hope to provide your student with an education that will open doors to any future career and give them the skills to be successful, happy and well-rounded individuals.

With the implementation of our new assessment F.A.S.T. we are better able to track student's progress throughout the year. While this was a baseline data year, we know that in the long term these assessments will give us the information to make data-driven decisions on instruction. We believe that tracking progress, along with providing research based intervention instruction, we can get all students to grade level proficiency benchmarks. Students love to see their growth from week to week on these assessments and many students are graphing their progress. This creates a huge amount of motivation for students. Reading to adults, siblings or friends at home can create huge gains in student's reading fluency and comprehension! The more reading we do, the easier it becomes and the easier learning is!

You might notice Jefferson looking a little different! We have started our construction on the walking trail to the West of our building. We are excited that the walking trail will be done by August 1st and will be an excellent opportunity for Jefferson students and the surrounding community to have a recreational area close to home! This well be an ongoing educational opportunity for our students and we will continue to add to our walking trail and nature area for years to come!

Last but not least, we will be campaigning during the 2015-2016 school year to get you involved at school! We want to grow our PTA and build a stronger Jefferson community! If you have an questions about PTA or would like to get involved, please stop in or call me! I would love to give you the scoop and get you here!

Enjoy all the moments with your children! This time will fly by and thank you for sharing your children with us!
