Carl Nelson – Class of 1933
Induction Class of 2013 – Track & Field
Carl Nelson was a 1933 graduate of Clinton High School. Nelson was a track athlete who still holds the school record in the 100 and 200-meter dash that were set in 1933. Nelson’s time of 9.5 in the 100-meter yard dash in 1933 was second only to Jesse Owens time of 9.4. Nelson’s time remained the second fastest time for a high school student until 1941.
