Hubie Norman is a 1941 Clinton High School graduate.  Norman was an outstanding swimmer for Howard Judd and the River Kings.  He set six state and three national records during his high school career.  Norman was able to do this despite losing his left leg in a train accident at the age of four.

After graduation, Norman attended the University of Iowa and was captain of the 1944 Hawkeye swim team.  By the 1980’s, Norman had become a nationally respected track and field official.  He worked numerous state meets, Drake Relays, and served as an official in the 1984 Olympic Games.  Norman is currently a member of the Iowa High School Swimming Hall of Fame and the Iowa Track Coaches and Officials Hall of Fame.
