Kevin Sorensen – Class of 1980

Sorensen was a 1980 Clinton High School graduate. Sorensen excelled in three sports at Clinton High. He was a 1st Team All-State athlete in football. Sorensen was selected to play quarterback in the Iowa Shrine Bowl football game and was named the game’s most valuable player.
It was on the track where Sorensen was able to leave his biggest mark. As a senior, he was a two-time state champion. He set the all-time Iowa record in the 400-meter hurdles, winning his first state title. He was also a member of the state winning 4×100 meter relay and he placed fifth in the long jump in 1980.
After graduation, Sorensen attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1984. After establishing a successful business career, Kevin passed away in 1996 after battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
