Induction Class of 2016 – Athletic Director, Head Baseball Coach, Teacher

Lenny Weih began his teaching, coaching and athletic administrative career at Clinton High School in 1970 and ended it with his retirement in 2001.  During that time Weih served as physical education teacher, head baseball coach and athletic director.

As head baseball coach, Weih’s teams won 260 games.  The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association honored him with three all-star game coaching assignments, it’s Contributor Award, it’s President’s Award and inducted Weih into the IHSBCA Hall of Fame in 1993.

It was during Weih’s athletic administrative career that the current River Kings & Queen Athletic Booster Club was established.  Since then the booster club has been recognized multiple times as one of the best in the state by the IHSADA.  In 2002 Weih was awarded the IHSAA Service Award for his contribution to the overall interscholastic athletic program in the state of Iowa.  Weih was also recognized on Law Day with Clinton’s annual Liberty Bell Award.

Weih also served as a basketball official for two decades.  Weih worked Iowa’s first ever girls 5-on-5 basketball state tournament game at Veteran’s Auditorium and worked back to back state championships in 1989 and 1990.  Weih was inducted into the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Basketball Officials Hall of Fame in 2004 and into the Iowa High School Officials Hall of Fame in 2006.

Weih is completing his 15th year as a Business Development Officer at Clinton National Bank.  Lenny and his wife, Sue will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in August.  Lenny and Sue have four children, Doug, Jodi, Lori and Julie and 11 grandchildren.
