James Edward Jungjohann – Class of 1985

Jungjohann was a 1985 Drake Relays Champion in the 1600m and still holds the CHS record for the event. He won the Mississippi Eight Conference 1600m event all four years while in high school. Jungjohann was the 1600m state runner-up in 1984 and 1985. Jungjohann was a member of the 1984 4X1600m team that currently holds the school record for that event.
As a River King cross country runner, Jungjohann was instrumental in the 1982 and 1984 State Championship teams and runner-up team in 1983, all under legendary coach Bill Holsclaw. Additionally, in the fall of 1984, he won the AAU Midwest Cross Country Championships.
Jungjohann went on to run track at the University of Houston in 1985/86 under 1984 Olympic Head Coach Tom Tellez and was able to train with Olympic greats Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell. Later he went on to get an undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Missouri/St. Louis and an MBA in Finance with honors from St. Louis University.
After college, Jim went on to a successful business career. Jungjohann currently works for technology investment fund Kingdom Ridge Capital. Prior to that he had been an adjunct MBA Professor of Finance at Trinity College, Dublin Ireland. James was a Managing Director, Co-Head Technology Investment Banking at CIBC World Markets in California and previously spent 12 years doing stock research at Oppenheimer & Co. in New York City and A.G Edwards. Over the years, Jim has worked on over 50 capital, IPO, and M&A transactions, including two of the largest technology M&A deals in history. He was voted by Institutional Investor as a “Home Run Hitter”. Jim served 8 years on the board of Real Colorado, voted a top 20 Soccer Club in the US by US Youth Soccer.
Jim lives in Denver Colorado with his wife Rebecca and two sons Erik and Jared.
