Gary Lueders is a 1973 graduate of Clinton High School. Lueders was a three sport athlete in high school, lettering in baseball, wrestling, and football. He earned All-State mention in football and was selected as the Most Valuable Player. Lueders was also elected team captain in football and wrestling.

Lueders served as Activities Director for Clinton High School from 2006-2015. It was during this time that he made his greatest contribution to the Clinton High School athletic program. Lueders worked closely with the Clinton High School Athletic Boosters to raise nearly four million dollars for athletic facility improvements at Clinton High School. Also during his tenure, the Board of Education approved an additional thirteen million dollars for new athletic facility construction. Some of these improvements included a new football stadium, baseball and softball complex, swimming pool, auxiliary gymnasium, locker rooms, and a new weight room.

In 2016, the Iowa High School Athletic Association honored Lueders with their School Administrator Award. Lueders was twice a finalist for the Iowa Athletic Director of the Year and was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Hall of Fame in 2016.
