Murble Kline- Class of 1915

Murble Kline was a 1915 graduate of Clinton High School. He excelled on the football field and on the basketball court.
In football, Kline was a key member of the 1913 and 1914 “mythical” state championship teams. He earned All-State honors in 1913, 1914, and 1915 at the tackle position.As a basketball player, he was a 1st Team All-State performer both his junior and senior years. Clinton High School advanced to the State Tournament three consecutive years (1913-1915). During the 1914 and 1915 state tournaments, Kline became the first individual to lead the tournament in scoring back-to-back seasons with 46 and 55 points.
Also, Kline has the state’s individual single game scoring record prior to the elimination of the jump ball after every basket: 63 vs Sterling, IL (1913); 56 vs Marion, IA (1915); 50 vs Marion, IA (1913).
