Dave Turner – Class of 1987

Dave Turner is a 1987 graduate of Clinton High School where he was a standout athlete in football and wrestling.
Dave’s River King football career included great team success as well as many individual accolades. The 1985-86 and 1986-87 Kings advanced to the Iowa State Football Playoffs in back to back years. During Dave’s junior and seniors, as an offensive and defensive lineman, he was selected 1st Team All-Conference (Mississippi 8) and 1st Team All-State Offensive Line both years. His senior year, Dave was voted Gatorade’s Iowa High School Player of the Year. He was also the offensive captain of the 1986 Bally All-American Team.
In wrestling, Turner was district champion and advanced to the Iowa Wrestling State Tournament where he placed 3rd in the Heavyweight Division both his junior and senior years. During that time, the River King wrestling team placed 3rd in 1986 and won the State Championship in 1987.
Turner attended the University of Iowa and was a key member of the offensive line on the Hawkeye football team. During his four years, the Hawks played in four bowl games and, in 1991, Dave was voted one of the team’s Most Valuable Players.
Currently, Dave and his wife, Tami, reside in Davenport, IA, where he is a sergeant for the Davenport Police Department. They have two children; Breanna and Jake
