Induction Class of 2018 – Basketball, Head Basketball Coach
Bob Walker is a 1966 graduate of Clinton High School. A two sport athlete, Walker participated in basketball and baseball. Bob excelled on the basketball court where he averaged 20.2 points per game his senior year and was voted 1st Team All-State.
Following his outstanding high school career, Bob continued playing basketball in college. While at Clinton Community College, he was a two-time All-Regional player, averaging 27.4 points per game his sophomore year. He attended Winona State University where he played basketball and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Walker taught and coached at the high school level with stints in Ft. Thomas, AZ and Bellevue, IA before becoming the head coach at Clinton Community College in 1981 where he enjoyed many successful seasons. He was a three-time Regional Coach of the Year and coached four teams to the NJCAA National Tournament. In 1992 his team was ranked #1 in the country, and in 1993 his team finished 3rd in the national tournament. Walker came out of retirement to coach the 2009-10 Clinton High School boys’ basketball team, qualifying for the state tournament.
