Steve Kuehl is a 1975 graduate of Clinton High School where he participated in track and field, football, and basketball.
Steve excelled in the sport of track and field, capturing a state championship in the high jump his senior year after placing as state runner-up in 1974. His jump of 6’10 ¼” set the state record in 1975. His 4A record stood for 24 years.  In both ’74 and ’75, Steve was the Drake Relays high jump champion.

Steve attended Iowa State University and was a member of the Cyclone track team.  At ISU, he set a school record in the high jump with a jump of 7’2”.  He was the first ISU high jump athlete to leap over 7’.  In 1976, Steve was the Big 8 Conference high jump champion, a USTFF All-American, and a USA Olympic Trials Finalist.  Additionally, he was an NCAA Championship finalist in 1976, ’77, and ’79.  Steve was the ISU Track and Field team Most Valuable Player during the ’76 and ’77 seasons and the 1979 Team Captain.
Steve and his wife, Linda, and their two children reside in San Marcos, California.
