James Ough was a 1929 graduate of Clinton High School. A gifted athlete, he was known as a great team leader who excelled at football, basketball and track.
As a football player, James was a four-year letter winner, team captain, and member of the All-State Team. In basketball, he was a four-year letter winner, team captain, and earned 1st Team All-State recognition his junior and senior years. James also led the River Kings to a Mississippi Valley Conference championship in 1929.
As a track and field athlete, James earned four varsity letters and was the conference high jump champion both his junior and senior years.
