WELCOME to the 2019-20 School Year!

Students and Families of Clinton Middle School,

The CMS staff would like to welcome everyone to the 2018-19 school year! We are looking forward to each of you being a member of our student body – giving your best effort in the classroom and being involved in activities beyond the classroom will contribute to success. The excitement for what is ahead this year plays a key role in your preparation for your future.

The CMS staff work to ensure that our school is a safe and respectful learning environment for our students. Our staff is unified in our RESPECT – Behavior plan to promote students respect to their peers and staff. One of the goals of CMS is to provide our students with the social skills to be respectful citizens as they interact with others at home, school, and within our community.

CMS will add lap top computers made available in part by the Clinton Gaming Commission and the Clinton Education Foundation as they supported CMS in a grant to add computers to CMS during the 17-18 school year.

Our school day will start at 8:30 am and end at 3:35pm. The CMS daily schedule will have 46 minute class periods during a 7 period day including RTI. We are also adding courses: Computer Applications and Writing, 7th – Literacy Skills and Financial Literacy, and 8th STEAM and Civics. All grade levels will also have additional technology classes available during the school day.

Thanks for being active in your child’s school involvement. By attending school related events, including Student-Parent-Teacher conferences helps in our efforts as we work together to help your child meet their academic and social goals for this school year. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teachers, counselors or Administrators to help with this support.  You know your child better than anyone and we encourage you to keep us informed so we can support them together.

Please visit the middle school website at as it is a great resource for daily announcements, calendar of upcoming events, email addresses to communicate with staff, and anti-bullying forms to share concerns.  Utilize your parent portal account to help monitor your child’s academic progress in each of their classes and attendance.

This handbook is designed to provide students, parents/guardians with basic information, guidelines, policies and procedures that promote the academic and behavioral success of our students.  We ask that each parent/guardian and middle school student familiarize themselves with what is presented so you are aware of our expectations to provide each child with a safe, engaging and productive learning environment.
