The Clinton Community School District is proud to announce the 2026 induction class of the Clinton High School (CHS) Hall of Honor, recognizing five distinguished alumni whose professional achievements, service, and character exemplify the values of Clinton High School.
This year’s inductees represent excellence across the fields of business leadership, military service, scientific innovation, sustainable energy, and the performing arts.
Sherman Bell — Class of 1990
Sherman Bell is being honored for his entrepreneurial accomplishments and commitment to mentorship and community service. After overcoming significant adversity early in adulthood, Bell built a successful career in the restaurant industry, culminating in the founding of KYB Holdings and Hideout 125, a thriving Fort Wayne–based restaurant enterprise generating more than $6 million annually. Bell also serves as a mentor in the Fort Wayne Community School District and is an active supporter of local causes.
Rear Admiral Frank D. Berrien — Class of 1895
Rear Admiral Frank Dunn Berrien is recognized for his extraordinary 42-year military career, spanning six major conflicts. A U.S. Naval Academy graduate and former head football coach at the Academy, Berrien commanded multiple naval vessels, earned the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, and served in prominent leadership roles including commanding officer of the USS Lexington. He was decorated by both the United Kingdom and Greece for his wartime service.
Donald L. Campbell — Class of 1921
Donald Lewis Campbell is being inducted for his groundbreaking contributions to chemical engineering. As a member of the “Four Horsemen,” Campbell co-developed the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) process in 1942—a transformative innovation that dramatically increased production of high-octane gasoline and supported Allied success in World War II. His prolific career included 30 patents and induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
Dr. Dave Edwards — Class of 1984
Dr. Dave Edwards is celebrated for his global leadership in sustainable and alternative energy. Following advanced studies in mechanical engineering, Edwards contributed to nuclear reactor design for the U.S. Navy before becoming a leading researcher and advocate for hydrogen energy at Air Liquide. His expertise has guided energy policy discussions at the national level, including Congressional testimony and work with federal leaders.
Sarah Hayes — Class of 2000
Sarah Hayes is being honored for her significant contributions to theatre and the performing arts. After early involvement in CHS theatre, Hayes built a career in Theatre for Young Audiences and regional performance, championing accessible arts experiences. In 2023, she made her Broadway debut in the national tour of the Tony Award–winning musical Hairspray, further distinguishing herself as both an artist and community leader.
Dr. Wes Golden, superintendent of the Clinton Community School District, praised this year’s honorees, stating, “Each inductee reflects the very best of what it means to be a Clinton High School graduate. Their achievements remind us of the limitless potential of our students and the powerful impact our alumni continue to make both locally and globally.”
The 2026 Hall of Honor induction ceremony will be held Friday, April, 24, 2026 at Clinton High School. Additional details will be released as the event approaches.
