CHS Daily Announcements

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tuesday April 8 2025

I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one Nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

  • CHS International Club will have its meeting today after school in Mrs. Krueger's room. We will finalize the itinerary for our Chicago trip in May.

  • Excellence in Academic awards are coming up on April 25th.  Please check your email for a form from Miss Melvin and respond if you will be in attendance or not. You have until April 20th to RSVP to this event.

  • The Discovery Shop in Bettendorf has had 400 prom dresses donated to them. They are selling their dresses for $25.00 and the actual value of the dresses is from $200.00-$500.00. All of the proceeds of these dresses goes to the American Cancer Society. They also have a facebook page you can check out if you are interested at QC discovery shop.

  • Attention Juniors!  Next year we are having the first ever Spirit King and Spirit Queen.  This will entail reading daily announcements, attending events as the face of CHS, co-hosting pep rallies and some awards ceremonies, working with a faculty panel and student council to plan events, and leading the crowds at sporting events.  Sound interesting?  Want more information?  See Mr. D. Schneeberger, Mr. McEwen, Mrs. Leafgreen, Mrs. Rallie, or Ms. Bradway for an application or with any questions.  Go River Kings and Queens!

  • IASAP Testing is this week. It is very important that you take these tests and try your best when taking them.  Make sure you charge your computers & bring your chargers to school.  The library will not have loaner chargers available during testing. So if you are low on power you will need to come get a loaner computer.

  • Juniors and Seniors: Prom sign-up has started. The form was sent to your school email by Ms. North.  Make sure you check on your requirements in the library after you sign up and make sure your response went through. Sign-up ends on April 25 @ 3:45

  • After-School Tutoring is being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library!  There is no cost.  We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! Great way to get grades up for Prom.

  • The kings soccer team took on Davenport Central on Monday night. The jv kings kicked things off and fought hard to keep the game close. The boys generated a few great opportunities, but ultimately came away on the losing end.  The varsity boys also took a tough loss against a strong Davenport team. The kings struggled to generate much offensively, but kept organized in the back to keep things close for most of the game. Chase Collender was selected as Man of the Match for both jv and varsity! Chase was strong in defense, fighting off several attacks that came down his side of the field. He also showed discipline to hold possession and advance the attack.  The kings travel to Muscatine on Thursday to take on the Muskies.
