River Kings Tennis was bested by the Pleasant Valley Spartans 0-9 Thursday. The Kings played a lot of good tennis while demonstrating an unwillingness to give up despite playing the 2nd ranked team in the state. We’re very proud of their effort. Keep working hard to close the gap. Go Kings!
Last night, the River Queens hosted the Wildcats of Davenport North in a MAC Conference showdown on Coan Field. After a hard fought forty minutes, the Queens entered halftime ahead by a score of 1-0, thanks to a sweet goal from outside by Alli Haskell and 10 saves by Senior Captain Livia Watters. Unfortunately, the Wildcats battled back in the 2nd half and the Queens gave up the lead, losing a tough one to North by a score of 2-1. This group of Queens, a mix of upperclassmen and new young talent, will be a force to reckon with in the years ahead! The Queens return to action next Tuesday at home as they host the Davenport West Falcons. Be sure and stop by Coan field to watch these young ladies take it to West next Tuesday! GO QUEENS!!!
River Queen golfers were at the Saber Invitational yesterday and placed 5th out of the 8 teams. The Queens finished just 8 strokes out of 3rd! Whitney Naughton was team medalist and placed 10th overall. Olivia Veenstra, Olivia Parker, and A’Reyae Jetter also scored for the Queens. Naughton, Parker, and Jetter all shot their career low for 18 holes as well.
The River Queen Tennis Team kept their undefeated season intact last night at Pleasant Valley. The wins rolled in with singles players Haan, Rowden, Grinnall, and Gonzalez. At #1 and #2 doubles wins came in from Haan and Rowden, followed by Grinnall and Atkinson, as #3 doubles was finishing, Lou Gonzalez was hit with an injury. Srp and Gonzalez bowed out with an injury default, knowing that their teammates had already sealed the Spartans defeat. Great win Varsity Queens and Junior Varsity girls too!!!!
