A representative from Iowa Safe Schools will be visiting with Pride Club after school on Monday, October 27th. Interested in attending and being part of a community where all are welcome? Please see Mrs. Ciner in room A107 to sign up if you're not a regular Pride Club attendee!
Pride Club will be meeting today during FLEX 2 in Mrs. Ciner's room, A107. All students are welcome to attend!
CHS International Club will meet today during Flex Time 2.
Book Club will meet today during both flexes. Come to whichever flex works best for you.
For the foreseeable future lunch will stop being served at 12:25 pm Mon - Thurs & 11:25 am on Fri. So make sure you grab your lunch before then.
Attention all varsity volleyball players: Please check Google Classroom for the updated travel roster that was posted last night. Departure time is 4:00pm in CHS back lot. There will be a Scouting Report in Coach Cewe's room (A212) from 12:15-12:45pm today.
GET READY: The 2025/2026 River King Wrestling Season is Coming! Whether you are a returning River King veteran ready to build on your legacy, or someone new looking to challenge yourself, build incredible strength, and join a dedicated team, this season is for you! Wrestling builds discipline, mental toughness, and a sense of community unlike any other sport. We are excited to get started and want to make sure you have all the information you need. To make sure you get all announcements for pre-season meetings, conditioning, and tryout dates, you need to be in our official Google Classroom. This will be our main hub for all team communication. We are looking forward to a fantastic season. Stay tuned, and get ready to work hard! Go River Kings! To be added, you must email Coach LeRoux! Once you email, you will be invited to the Classroom. Please accept the invitation to complete the process.
As we continue to celebrate Manufacturing month, on Wednesday, October 22, during both flexes, CHS will be hosting Mandy Parchert, who works in Human Resources as the Manager for University and Community Relations for HNI Corporation, a leading manufacturer of workplace furnishings and residential building products headquartered in Muscatine, IA. She is also the Chairperson for the Mississippi Valley Advanced Manufacturing Sector Board. Mandy will be joined by a representative from the Skyline Center and also someone from Black Cat Wear Part. They will be located in or near the commons area. Please stop by to learn more about manufacturing in our area.
If you are interested in making a short film for the Iowa High School Speech Competition this year, the meeting is Today, October 21th in room S154 from 4-5:00 pm. For questions or details, email Coach Struble or Coach Lemon-Levy.
The Building Futures Career Expo, at the QCCA Expo Center, provides a hands-on chance to explore careers in the construction trades! Try out real activities, see equipment in action, learn directly from industry professionals. The Expo takes place on Tuesday, November 18th. The Bus leaves CHS at 10:00am and returns at 1:30pm. All grades are welcomed and we still have room for more students to register. Any of your teachers can get you registered. The registration deadline is Wednesday, October 22. Every participant receives a FREE lunch and event T-shirt!
Ready to show your River King Spirit? Winter Cheer tryouts are coming up. Get your application from Ms. Schroeder and bring it to clinic day on Tuesday Oct 28 4-6pm in the practice gym. Tryouts will be the following day starting at 4pm. We can't wait to see you!
After-School Tutoring is being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library! There is no cost. We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! If you need to get grades up to keep from falling too far behind this is the place to be.
The River Queen Swimmers finished up their regular season against some tough competition last night at the Morrison Reverse Invitational. The JV Queens pulled out a second place finish and had season best swims from Norah Bradley, Candis Hamstra, Kennedi Briggs and Stella Jackson. The Varsity Queens finished in 3rd place highlighted by 2nd place finishes in the 400 free relay (Lahna Schroeder, Grace Ewer, Mia Wright and Eloise Brisch), 100 Back (Schroeder) and 100 Fly (Brisch). The Queens now look to finish the season strong at the Muscatine JV Invite on November 1 and Varsity Regionals on November 8.
