Juniors- Clinton Community College Academy Preview Day is Thursday November 6th. This is a great opportunity to earn college credit, while also the possibility of earning a credential at the completion of a program. Please check your e-mail for a registration link to the event. Bowling team signups will be tomorrow 10/28 @ 4:00pm at Plaza Bowl for both girls and boys.
This weekend five choir students auditioned for the Iowa All State Choir at Iowa City West. Jerzi Hill, Lucas Clark, Alyson Pulido and Haylee House represented CHS with excellent auditions. Jade Stuart was selected as one of 26 sopranos from our region to sing in November with the Iowa All State Choir. This is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations Jade!
Pickleball Club will have a meeting on Thursday, October 30th during FLEX 1 in room A106. If you are interested in joining but are unable to attend, talk to Mr. E. Haan in room A106.
Conferences will be this week on Tues, Oct 28 and Wed, Oct 29 from 4-7:30pm.
Also during conference time there will be FAFSA help for the seniors & their guardians who would like it. This will be on the 2nd floor of the academic building. Appointments are not required but an email was sent out Friday through which an appointment could be made if you like. See/email Marla Schultz with questions.
A representative from Iowa Safe Schools will be visiting with the Pride Club after school Today, October 27th. Interested in attending and being part of a community where all are welcome? Please see Mrs. Ciner in room A107 to sign up if you're not a regular Pride Club attendee!
Students are NOT allowed to park in the East academic wing lot or the East side of the South lot. Those parking lots by the A wing & S wing are for Staff only. Students who park there will get tickets. Students who drive to school need to park legally in the North student lot or at the WEST end of the South lot by Coan field.
Capri College is having a Career Fair on Wednesday, November 12. Interested students will be able to shadow a class based on their choice (Cosmetology, Esthetics, or Massage Therapy) and will also have time for hands-on activities with instructors and students. The bus will leave at 10:30 and return to CHS at 3:00. Space is limited. Any teacher can get you signed up. Must be signed up by Wednesday, October, 29.
Ready to show your River King Spirit? Winter Cheer tryouts are coming up. Get your application from Ms. Schroeder and bring it to clinic day on Tuesday Oct 28 4-6pm in the practice gym. Tryouts will be the following day starting at 4pm. We can't wait to see you!
The varsity River Kings football team welcomed Davenport West to Coan Field Friday night for senior night. The Kings came out on fire and dominated the Falcons from start to finish on route to a 49-14 victory. Offensively, the Kings spread the wealth with 7 different touchdown scorers. Touchdown scorers for the Kings included Ethan Carpenter, Konnor Schroeder, Nolan Eggers, Maddux Cooley, Jordan Gruhn, Marshall Johnson, and Cooper Belitz. Carter Frame added an interception on defense for the Kings. What a way to send out our seniors. We want to thank them for their commitment to the program for the last four years. Thank you to the all the fans that sent these boys out victorious. Go Kings!
On Friday night, the River Kings hosted the Falcons from Davenport West in the final game of the season. The Sophomore squad started the night's action and won in dominating fashion over West, defeating the Falcons by a score 0f 52-0!! Scoring in the first half for the Kings was Noah Fergurson on a 6 yard touchdown run and Liam Petersen who scored from 17 yards out. Nolan Marsh had a timely interception that stalled a West drive. Then, completing the first half scoring was Desean Mack on a 13-yard pass play from Petersen. The second half was more of the same. Micah Tague set the Kings up with great field position returning the 2nd half kickoff 50 yards, leading to a Petersen score on a1 yd sneak. Javin Bell added a 4-yard run in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, Zane Weaver showed off his sprinting skills by beating the defense around the edge for a 26-yard score. Tague added a 15-yard run for a touchdown, and Bastien Balous blocked a punt and picked up the loose ball to return it 27 yards to round out the scoring for Clinton!!! The Sophomore Kings finish their season with a 7-2 record!!! Thank you to all of the supporters who came out to cheer on the young Kings week after week, it means so much to these young student-athletes!!! GO KINGS!!!!
