  • Last Friday The River Kings met up with Davenport Assumption for a boys Tripleheader. The Freshman kicked off the evening of basketball continuing to show signs of improvement. The boys hung their hat on gritty defense in the first half, keeping it close. The Kings struggled to stay with the Knights and ultimately fell by a score of 35-65. The sophomores followed the game in a physical battle. The Kings traded blows early, but a quick 10-0 run separated the group at half. The Kings added some pressure in the second half and cut their deficit to 4, but ran out of gas and could not hang on with a score of 60-73. The Varsity Kings came out slow, digging a 6-19 hole early. The Kings continued to battle. The Kings were hitting from deep, shooting 45% from the arc with 13 makes on 28 attempts. The Kings were able to hold off the Knights late surge to come out with the 66-63 win. The Varsity team completes the series sweep against the Knights this year. The Kings find out their district pairing later today and look to close out the regular season tonight against Davenport North and Thursday vs. Davenport Central. Go Kings!
