  • The Kings opened the soccer season with two hard-fought games in Maquoketa on Monday night. Varsity got things started, battling back from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw. The team controlled possession well while building through the midfield, and the back three of Eli Rapp, Brady Kurtz, and Chase Collender held strong defensively. Randyn Mielke scored the King’s first goal off an assist from Lincoln Hinrichs, and Alonso Aguila found the equalizer late in the second half with an assist from Alan Cruz to secure the draw. Alonso was also named Man of the Match for his performance!  The JV boys lost 1-0 in a 20 minute game. Several boys saw their first action for the team. Kamden Organista, Lakin Jess, and Ray Vongxay all stood out putting in positive performances in the shortened game.  The Kings next travel to Solon on Saturday to take part in the Spartan Triangular Tournament. Go Kings!
