River Kings Tennis traveled to North Scott on Tuesday for the MAC Conference Tournament. The Kings all had tough draws to start the day, but they still came to fight. Notable matches included: Tanner Feddersen came within a mere four points from defeating one of the top 2A players in the state; Jace Burgland narrowly lost by two points to the number three seed in his bracket; Ryan Schmitz came out on top in his first round match; Asher Dornbush took the four seed to a third set tiebreaker and only lost by two points; the duo of Vinnie Srp and Jace Burgland battled to a third set tiebreaker and barely lost by two points as well. Had a few more points gone the other way, the Kings would have earned some medals. Great effort Kings!
The varsity boys soccer team traveled to Bellevue on Wednesday night to take on Marquette. The Kings started out strong dominating possession and generating several good looks at goal. Gabriel Rocha stepped up for a penalty kick and got the Kings on the board with his first goal of the season. Despite the good start, Marquette fought back and managed to give the Kings a 2-1 defeat.
