  • The Queens played at the District meet yesterday at Glynn's Creek. The Queens team was young with no Seniors playing in the 18 hole meet.  Olivia Veenstra played her best round ever finishing at an even 100 followed closely by Bryleigh Shepherd and her best score ever with a 106. Audrie Bedford held her own at 123 but it was freshman Ruby Boysen who played consistently all day and ended with a 113 giving the Queens their lowest team score of the season with a 442 and finishing in 8th place out of 10 teams.  Also playing for the Queens but not scoring were Tamara Soto and Caelyn Dunham.  The Queens season full of team bests and personal bests comes to close but they have many things to build on and be proud of!

  • The Clinton River Kings took care of business yesterday against Mount Vernon! Varsity rolled to a 6-1 victory behind a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate from Liam Peterson and a complete-game gem from Konnor Schroeder. Big-time clutch at-bats from Cohen Thorpe, Nolan Marsh, and Cooper Belitz helped seal the win for the Kings.  The JV squad also brought the heat with strong pitching performances from Reece Kramer, Hunter Sink, and Javon Brownlee.  The River Kings are back in action at home this Friday as they take on Dubuque Senior. Come out and support the Kings!

  • Last night the Varsity River Queens softball team took on Maquoketa in a home double header. Despite two tough losses, effort and fight from the girls never slowed down all night long.  Game one defense was led by Emma Rodriguez, who was tough behind the plate all game long.  Grace Hake was in the circle for the River Queens in game one and battled throughout the opener. In game two, Maggie House was strong in the circle during the six-inning contest. The Queens put together a big 3rd inning, taking the lead in the bottom half thanks to a huge at bat from Madisen Davids.  After battling through an 8-pitch at bat, Davids ripped a line drive single up the middle to spark the River Queens offense. Unfortunately they couldn't hang on to that lead for the remainder of the game.  The River Queens are back in action next Wednesday as they travel to Tipton.
