The Varsity River Kings traveled to Brady street stadium last night to finish up their season against Davenport West. The Kings came out a bit sloppy early on, but eventually found their groove and pummeled West 43-6. The offense was again paced by two touchdown runs by Ethan Carpenter. Liam Petersen and Jordan Hellweg also added touchdown runs of their own. The Kings defense also got in on the scoring as Carpenter had an interception return for a touchdown and Angel Lines recovered a fumble for another score. The defense also added a safety as well as another interception by Hunter Ball. The Kings finished the season 4-5. It was a great way to end a season and a career for many of our seniors. The coaching staff can’t thank them enough for their contributions to the program. Go Kings.
The Freshman/Sophomore River Kings took care of business against the Davenport West Falcons, earning a convincing 41–6 victory and improving their season record to an impressive 8–1! The Kings got things rolling right away with a 69-yard kickoff return by Levi Nimmick to open the game. Through the air, Eli VanDerLeest, La’vonta Taylor, and Vaun Jones (2) hauled in touchdown receptions, while Elijah Hardwick powered in two rushing touchdowns. The defense dominated from start to finish, setting the tone and keeping the Falcons in check all game long. It was a complete team effort on both sides of the ball! Thank you to all the players for their hard work and dedication, and to our fans for showing up and supporting the River Kings!
