Your River Kings and Queens have been busy doing great things these last few days! Here are the highlights:
Last night, the River Queen Basketball teams played great games but came up short in the fourth quarters. Veronica Ramirez had 11 rebounds and Emma Riessen led the team with 11 points. Avery Dohrn went 4/5 from the 3 point line!
Your River King Swimmers traveled to Davenport West yesterday to take on the Falcons. The Kings grabbed a victory over the Falcons 102-68. Varsity individual winners for the Kings were: Unke 200 Free, Caleb Dornbush 200 IM and 100 Breast, and Steenhard 100 Fly. Winning relays were 200 Free Lewerenz, Zimmer, Unke and Dornbush and 400 Free Dylan Todtz, Cuatlacuatl, Caden Todtz, and Unke. JV Individual winners were Bromley 500 Free. Winning relays were 400 Free Duncan, Bromley, Amensisa and Frye. Great Job Kings! Way to end the regular season with a VICTORY!
On Saturday, the Boys Varsity Bowlers lost a close match, the Girls Varsity bowled unopposed, and Boys JV won their meet against Central DeWitt. The leading scorers for the boys were Charlie Pelham with a 464 two game series and Blake Shepherd with a 437 two game series. The leading scorers for the girls were Sidney Pawski with a 383 two game series and Maren Schwarz with a 379 two game series.
On Monday, Boys Varsity won, Girls Varsity lost a close match, and Boys JV lost their meet against Maquoketa. Leading scorers for the boys were Blake Shepherd with a 459 two game series and Brycen Lawrence with a 453 two game series. Leading scorers for the girls were Sidney Pawski with a 455 two game series and Ana Cunningham with a 349 two game series.
Over the weekend, the CHS Speech Team attended the IHSSA District Speech Contest. We had 3 groups achieve a one rating, moving them to the State Contest next month.

Your River King Swim team competed in the 12 team Burlington Invitational Saturday and placed 7th. Caleb Dornbush was the only medal winner for the Kings. He placed 6th in the 50 Free and 4th in the 100 Back and Unke was just outside of medal contention. The rest of the kings accumulated 17 time drops. Swimmers with multiple drops were: Unke 3, Deters 2, Sander-Welzien 2, Caden Todtz 2 and 6 others with 1. Kings will host Davenport Central this Thursday the 19th which is senior night. Go KINGS!

River King Swimmers competed in their 4th meet in 6 days. Kings lost to Dubuque Senior but had some great swims. Caleb Dornbush took 1st in 100 free (season best) and 100 back. Unke was just touched out for the wins but did get season bests in the 50 Free and 100 Breast. Duncan, Frye, Naughton, Reynolds, and Steenhard also got season bests in 1 or more events. Great job KINGS! Kings travel this Saturday to Burlington for the Burlington 12 team Invitational.

Your River King Swim team competed in the Dubuque Hempstead Invitational Saturday and placed 5th overall. 6th place 200 Medley Relay of Caleb Dornbush, Unke, Cuatlacuatl, Zimmer, 4th place 50 Free Caleb Dornbush, 8th place 100 Free Unke, 7th place 200 Free Relay of Caleb Dornbush, Unke, Dylan Todtz, Zimmer, 4th place 100 Back Caleb Dornbush, 8th place 100 Breast Unke. Other Kings with some nice swims were Asher Dornbush in the 200 Free, 100 Back, 400 Free Relay,
Reynolds in the 200 Free, 100 Back, 400 Free Relay, and Lewerenz in 50 Free. Great Job KINGS!! Kings have a very busy week with 4 meets in 6 days. ROYAL ARMY, come help cheer on the Kings tonight as they take on Sterling. Starts at 6pm. Want volunteer hours help time, be there at 5:40. GO KINGS!
