It was a beautiful, sunny day for the River Queen golfers as they competed in the 10 team Falcon Invitational yesterday taking 6th place. Whitney Naughton was team medalist with a 111, her career low 18 hole round. Olivia Veenstra shot 114, Bryleigh Shepherd 116 (also a career low), and Olivia Parker 120, to round out the scoring for the Queens. Natalee Faur tied her career low and A'Reyae Jetter in her first 18 hole meet ever also participated for the Queens. The team score yesterday for the Queens was also the lowest in the last 3 three seasons. Lots of improvement in the young team which has no seniors. The Queens are in action again tomorrow at Glynn's Creek.
River Kings Tennis went on the road to take on the Bettendorf Bulldogs Tuesday. Halfway through the match, rain forced us to suspend play until the following day. Already in a 0-2 deficit, the Kings came close to splitting the remaining singles matches but secured only 1 win in the end by #2 Tanner Feddersen (6-4, 6-1). In doubles, the Feddersen Bros picked up another big win at #1 (6-1, 7-6 TB 8-6). Final match score was 2-7, but Kings played much better than what the score reflected. Go Kings!

Great work last week, River Kings and Queens. We hope you all had a wonderful break!

The boys soccer team took on a tough Assumption team on Monday night. The JV kings kicked things off with a hard fought, 2-0 loss. Saul Xique Marcos made several big saves and Randyn Mielke locked down the right side of the defense to keep the game tight. The Kings brought even more intensity in the 2nd half, but couldn't quite finish off a few good looks to get on the scoreboard. The varsity kings struggled to get started and found themselves again in an early 3-0 deficit. The boys responded well to lock it down for the remainder of the half against a very strong Assumption team. After the half, the Kings started off looking more dangerous, but ran out of gas as the game got away from them. They took a 10-0 loss on the night. Ammar Albaghdadi was selected as the team's Man of the Match, for the intensity he brought to the defense all night long. His energy helped the kings fight back against the early deficit, and find their footing before the game got away from them. Both teams now look forward to a tough set of games against Pleasant Valley on Thursday night!
Last night the River King Track and Field team competed in the Muscatine Dave Matthews Invitational. The varsity Kings competed hard and finished seventh. Cooper Belitz, shot put. 4x200m relay of Ryne Freyer, EJ Fielder, Kenan Bailey, Cole Johnson. Nice work Kings.

Singles winners included #1 Jacob Feddersen (6-1, 6-4), #2 Tanner Feddersen (6-3, 7-5), #3 Nate Frye (6-3, 6-4), #4 Lucas Hilgendorf (6-0, 6-3) & #6 Vinnie Srp (7-5, 7-6 TB 7-0). Doubles winners included #1 Feddersen Bros (8-6, 6-3) and #3 Hilgendorf & Srp (6-4, 6-1). Despite the windy conditions, the Kings battled hard from start to finish. Phenomenal work Kings!
The kings soccer team traveled to Epworth to take on Western Dubuque on Friday night. The jv boys fought hard and had several good chances to score, but one unfortunate mistake led to the 1-0 defeat on the night. The varsity kings struggled to get going against the physical and intense Bobcat team. Three early mistakes lead to an early deficit that they struggled to fight back from. Sam Hoffman was a bright spot for the kings on the day. Sam brought some much needed intensity to the team, and has immediately stepped in as a vocal leader. He won several headers and prevented multiple attacks from progressing into the defensive third. For all of these reasons, Sam was selected as the team's Man of the Match.
The River Queen Track and Field team traveled to Tipton Iowa on Thursday night. The Queens had to fight some very powerful wind on the front stretch to come away with 2nd place out of 11 teams.
