Great job, students!

Let's highlight the Teacher and Paraeducator Registered Apprenticeship (TPRA) Grant Program! The grant program will provide opportunities for paraeducators to earn their bachelor's degree (covered by the state) all while learning and working in the classroom. The program began in the 2022-2023 school year.
We want to showcase the current CCSD candidates that were chosen for this program over the next several days. They are all working very hard, performing their paraeducator job duties while earning their degree.
All CCSD paraeducators are truly valued! They provide a great service to their colleagues and students and we appreciate each of them.
Lastly, we'd like to share Brooke Petersen:

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, the 2023 campaign focuses on how surroundings impact mental health, and calling for individuals to look around, look within. Topics that we specifically address include: Safe and Stable Housing. Healthy Home Environments. CCSD Social Worker Team: Sharyl Wanzek, Matt Edwards, and Gabe Gluba want to take this opportunity to communicate to our students, families, and staff how the CCSD Social Work Team helps support mental health awareness as whole everyday by helping to assist with linking students, families, and staff to community resources, providing social emotional supports/interventions, collaborating as part of an interdisciplinary team, supporting attendance, providing training with District initiatives such as Hope Framework and Youth Mental Health First Aid. These are a few ways our CCSD School Social Workers help bring awareness to mental health everyday for our District.
--
We are grateful to have 3 CCSD social workers that really are the epitome of 'caring community' (part of our district's mission statement). They work hard to connect families and students to needed resources, provide counseling/therapy, strengthen relationships between home and school, and work hard to get kids to school (chronic absenteeism is the number one indicator of future mental health issues).

Next up, Joy Ellis:

May is School Board Recognition Month in Iowa. Every year, IASB leads School Board Recognition Month to honor the volunteer board members who serve on Iowa's 327 local school boards, nine area education agency boards and 15 community college boards.
A huge thank you to ours!
