The CCSD School Resource Officers shared: Yesterday, The Clinton PD Junior Academy Cadets learned about some of CPD’s Special Operation Units. Detective Johnson talked about the Drone Unit. The Cadets got the chance to fly mini drones. Ofc Thayer, Cpl. Roling and his K9 Roman presented on the K-9 unit. The Cadets got to see Roman track a scent and make an apprehension through a bite. Lt. Schwandt and Cpl. Bray presented about the Special Response Team (SRT). The Cadets got to try on some SRT equipment and were able to check out the vehicles they use when responding to a scene. -- What a cool and unique experience for some of our #CCSDStudents! Thank you to all that allowed this to happen!

Big congrats to Clinton Middle School 7th graders Grace Griswold & Piper Jennings — aka Retro Readers — for taking 2nd place in the Eastern Iowa Regional Middle School Battle of the Books! 📚 They tied with PVJH’s Forest Fires (485 pts) and crushed it, reading all 15 Iowa Teen Award books for 2024-25! Only 2 teammates (you can have 3!) and they still made it to the top! Grace and Piper did an incredible job representing CMS and CCSD! #CCSDGoodNews #CMSProud #RetroReaders #BookBattle #StudentSuccess #IowaTeenAward #ReadersAreLeaders
