Attention students interested in becoming an electrician. Mr. Terry Van Hook, with the Quad City Electrical Training Center, will be here on Wednesday, December 17, during both flexes. Students wanting to hear from Mr. Hook and learn more about the trade are welcome to visit room S144 during the first flex. He will then be in or near the commons area during the second flex.

After-School Tutoring is being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library! There is no cost. We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! We are getting to the end of the semester. Let us help you get those grades up.
The River King wrestlers lost to a very good Davenport Assumption team last night 57-17. Cooper Cooley won his match in exciting form in the ultimate tie breaker 6-3. Jakob Litherland won by a fall, Danny Peters won by a tech fall and Hunter Ball won by forfeit. The Kings travel Saturday to compete in a 14 team tournament in Maquoketa.

Yesterday, the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet vs North Scott at Plaza Bowl. The varsity boys lost 2457 to North Scott’s 3046 while the varsity girls had a solid performance and won 2767 to North Scott’s 2526. The JV girls also won 1736 to North Scott’s 1034. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 378, Cutter Overton with a 2 game series of 379. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Laynie Steines with a 2 game series of 383, Kiara Krueger with a 2 game series of 432. Top scorers for girls JV were: Carli Brunson with a 2 game series of 255, Keira Palmer with a 2 game series of 339.
The River Queen basketball team played last night against previously unbeaten and ranked #9 in 5A Bettendorf in what turned out to be a great win for the Queens and moving to 4-0 on the season. Rallying in the 4th Qtr after being down double digits, the Queens fought and clawed and ended up on top with a 73-65 win. The Queens had 4 girls in double digit scoring behind Guy's 26, Haskell's 19, Fergurson's 13, and Sattler's 10. Haskell also added 8 assists and Fergurson added 11 boards. The sophomore Queens battled the whole game and were tied going into the 4th Quarter before falling 35-43. Leading the Queens were Tenley Cewe with 10 points. Brooklynn Fuller added 4 steals and Kassidy Eggers added 6 boards. They moved to 2-1 on the season. The Kings and Queens play at home against North Scott on Friday in a boy-girl double-header.
River King basketball opened up their conference season in a tripleheader vs bettendorf last night. The program started the night with a freshman battle where the freshman saw themselves down early. Throughout the second half the freshman kings battled back and gained the lead late, but could not hang on and ended up falling to a final of 44-53. RK basketball Sophomore battled hard at home but fell to Bettendorf 71-34, evening their record at 1-1. Despite the challenging final score, the team showed flashes of offensive potential throughout the contest and gained valuable experience against a strong opponent. Dorian Hill emerged as RK's offensive leader, putting together an impressive performance with 11 points working hard in the paint throughout the game. RK Varsity battled hard in their home matchup against Bettendorf but came up short 59-45, evening their record at 1-1. Despite the final score, the team showed tremendous fight and individual excellence, particularly from standout performer Cole Shannon, who delivered an impressive 25-point performance. While the final score didn't go their way, RK demonstrated resilience and individual excellence that will serve them well moving forward.

The River Queens basketball teams picked up two wins on Friday night against Davenport Central. The JV Queens won their game 50-33 and moved to 2-0 behind Tenley Cewe's 18 points. The Varsity Queens moved to 3-0 beating the Blue Devils 77-37. Jhaliana Guy had 28 pts while Carryn Sattler had 14. Alli Haskell led the team in assists with 7 and Aubrey Fergurson led the team with 6 rebounds. The Queens are at 5-0 combined and looking to continue their streak as they face Bettendorf tonight on the road.
Congratulations River King wrestlers on an outstanding showing at the Cedar Rapids Kennedy JV Invitational. Starting the night off Carter Cant got a huge win to get the River Kings rolling. Great job Carter! Claiming Championships on the night were Oliver Steward, Joaquin Donaire, Chase Collender, Roger Schumacher, Eric Harris, Landon Clark, Cooper Cooley, and Angel Lines. 2nd Place finishers were Camdynn Bray, Wyatt Graham, Magnus Kjormoe, Josh Holloran, and Cormac Nichols. 3rd Place winners were, Mark Stoddard, Adis Ravmanoski, Jonah Rogis, Ray Vongxay, Griffen Keefer, Titus Moody, Diego Donaire, Joey Anderson, Dylan Dean, Liam Petersen, Riley Engelkins, and Bastien Balous. 4th place winners were Jack George, Chris Soesbe, Lucas Hewitt, Cordell Clark, Logan Spooner, Joel Morales Romero, Zane Weaver, Tre Engelkens, Zach Woods and Marvell Estes. Remember to sign in when you are going to spend time in the library. There is no food allowed on the upper floor of the library. You can NOT eat your lunch in any part of the library. If you are on the upper floor of the library you need to be sitting in one of the chairs and can not block the shelves or pathways. If the chairs are full you need to be down stairs.

Congratulations River King wrestlers with a hard fought 3rd place finish Saturday in the 14 team Sterling Invitational. The Kings finished with 206pts behind Sterling Newman with 206.5 and Dixon 261. Winning championships for the Kings were Danny Peters and Hayden Chandler. Earning 2nd place medals were Alfonzo Herrera and Nolan Eggers. 3rd place finishers were Brody Harrington and Jakob Litherland. Fourth place winners were Ty Sander-Welzien, Sloan Weaver, Angel Lines and DaMarius Robinson. 6th place winners were Chase Collender, Isaiah Lines, and Joaquin Donaire. Great Job Kings!
The River Queens traveled to Coralville last week to compete in the Dan Gable Donnybrook tournament. One of the toughest tournaments in the Midwest, with 49 teams and over 500 wrestlers. The Queens fought hard over the two day tournament and ended up in 26th place. The Queens had two wrestlers make it to the podium, Cambyl Sattler and Cambrie McLoyd both took 8th place in a very tough bracket. The entire team worked so hard and we are very proud of their efforts. Other notable finishes were, 105 Avery Watters - 15th Place. 110 Avery VanDorn - DNP. 115 Molly Steiner - 12th Place. 120 Emma Rodriguez - 16th Place. 125 Alaina Carpenter - 14th Place. 130 Mena Albaghdadi - DNP. 135 Madisyn Halloran - DNP. 140 Nayobie Brown - DNP. 155 Lauren Whitney - 18th Place. 235 Terrissa King - 21st Place. The River Queens return to action this Friday at Maquoketa! Good luck girls!

Girls soccer -- Next open gym is this Saturday, December 6th at 12 noon at CHS. Please meet in the lobby of Yourd gym. You may enter through the athletes entrance on the Southwest side of Yourd, or through the Hall of Fame entrance. Proceed to the lobby of Yourd, do not go into the gym when you first arrive.

If they are overdue (we have over 170 that are) and you are still reading them please stop in and get them renewed, otherwise please return them so someone else can read them. If they are overdue too long they get marked as lost and a FEE is added to Infinite Campus.
Wednesday, the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet vs Davenport North at Bowlmor. The varsity boys lost 2404 to Davenport North’s 3098 while the varsity girls had a good performance and won 2653 to Davenport North’s 2539. The JV girls also lost 1376 to Davenport North’s 1727. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Cutter Overton with a 2 game series of 366, Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 413. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Madison Hartman with a 2 game series of 375, Kiara Krueger with a 2 game series of 415. Top scorers for girls JV were: Carli Brunson with a 2 game series of 228, Keira Palmer with a 2 game series of 315
Congratulations River King wrestlers on defeating Davenport West 55-21 last night at Davenport West. Winning for the Kings were Hunter Ball , Brody Harrington, Alfonzo Herrera, Ty Sander-Welzien, Danny Peters, Isaiah Lines, Nolan Eggers , Landon Clark, DaMarius Robinson, and Hayden Chandler. JV winners were Angel Lines, David Peralta-Flores, and Cooper Cooley! Great Job River Kings.
The River King swimmers opened their competition season last night against the Pleasant Valley Spartans. The Varsity Kings fell short to the top-notch Spartans squad, however, a number of CHS swimmers had a strong night, which shows a lot of promise for the upcoming season. Varsity Kings with quality swims were Dylan Todtz, Jayden Krogmann, Vinnie Srp, Asher Dornbush and Cameron Zimmer. The highlight of the meet was the JV Kings getting the meet win over the Spartans JV Squad. Leading the JV Kings were Xavier Wright, Cale Lampe, Kade Raasch, Lucas Clark, Dante Kelly and Trey Dykstra. The Kings are back in action on Saturday at the Davenport West Invitational.

After-School Tutoring is being offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library! There is no cost. We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! If you need to get grades up to keep from falling too far behind this is the place to be.
Please check the “Lost and Found” if you have lost something. The gray tote outside the library is overflowing with clothing & coats. With the cold weather here you are going to want to reclaim those.
