We will be doing Edmentum testing January 27-31 so make sure that your computers are charged the night before, you bring your chargers to school, and be ready to go for testing.
The Counseling office will be giving the ASVAB on January 30th. This is a great tool for career exploration. Please contact Mr. Avise-Rouse to sign up.

Girls Soccer -- open gym this week-- Today Jan. 14th at 6pm in the Wellness gym; Wednesday Jan. 15th at 6pm in Yourd gym.
Pride Club is planning to attend the Student Day at the Capitol with Iowa Safe Schools! They will be travelling to Des Moines and meeting lots of politicians and lawmakers. They'll advocate for themselves and try to make Iowa a better place for everybody! The event takes place on February 25th. If you are interested, please notify Rin Ciner as soon as possible. The deadline is Friday, January 17th. We hope to see you there!

The River Queen Wrestlers competed in the 2nd annual River Queen Duals on Saturday taking 3rd. The River Queens lost a heartbreaker early to Iowa City High, but came back winning in dominating fashion against Davenport. The Queens ended their day winning a thriller against Geneseo to take home 3rd place. A great team effort all day, good job ladies! The Queens are back in action Thursday at Cascade and Friday at the first ever MAC Tournament held at Davenport West. Good luck ladies!

The Kings took their Varsity and JV wrestlers to the Northeast Invitational on Saturday. The young Kings continue to show grit and overall improvement every time they step on the mat! They are making the River King nation proud! The Kings ended up winning the invite with 394.5 points. Nolan Eggers and Brody Harrington won their first Varsity tournament championships of their careers. Hilario Cuatlacuatl and Jadis Franklin wrestled great and also won Championships in the B division. On Friday night, the River Kings traveled to Muscatine to take on the Muskies in a MAC Conference boys basketball tilt. The Freshmen were in a close game early, down only three points at halftime. Muscatine pulled away in the second half and won by a score of 67--30. The Sophomore Kings fought hard but could not overcome the Muskies and lost by a score of 66--29. The Varsity Kings gave a tremendous effort but also fell to the top team in the conference, 71--39. Thank you to all of the supporters who made their way to Muscatine! The Kings are back in action Tuesday night with road games at Davenport Assumption. GO KINGS!!

Congratulations River King wrestlers on winning two out of three dual meets at the triangular in Marion last night. The Kings beat Beckman 65-10 and Maquoketa 65-13. The Kings lost the finale to Marion 43-36. With the second win on the night the Kings won their 600th dual meet in the history of the school which started back in 1929. Winning for the Kings were Jason Wheat, Jakob Litherland, Camdynn Bray, Brody Harrington, Ty Sander Welzien, Alfonzo Herrera, Danny Peters, Brady Jennings, Ethan Carpenter, Nolan Eggers, Damarius Robinson, Jordan Stafford, Hayden Chandler, Sloan Weaver. Winning their JV matches were Nate Lundin, Liam Petersen, Eric Harris , Cooper Cooley, Landon Clark, and Wyatt Grahm.
Yesterday the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet against Davenport West. All teams won their meets except for the Junior Varsity Boys. The varsity boys won 2994 to 2795. The varsity girls won 2373 to 2128. The JV boys lost 1942 to 2229. The JV girls won 1904 to 643. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Brycen Lawrence: 2 game series of 443, Charlie Pelham: 2 game series of 488. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Tucker Sechrest: 2 game series of 340, Grace Hake: 2 game series of 353. Top scorers for boys JV were: Cael Schwarz: 2 game series of 286, Cutter Overton: 2 game series of 317. Top scorers for girls JV were: Keira Palmer: 2 game series of 29, Laynie Steines: 2 game series of 375.
The River Queen basketball teams split last night against Davenport West. In the JV game, the Queens came out quickly and built a 23-7 halftime lead and eventually held on to win 36-23 taking their record to 4-4. Leading the scoring for the Queens were Lilly Hankins with 8, Samantha Powell and Phoebe Levine with 7, Kassidy Eggers 6, Arra Greene 4, and German foreign exchange student Anna Moser with 3. In the varsity game, the Queens were even with the West Falcons through the first 3 quarters until the Queens finally were able to get up by 5 points midway through the 4th quarter but were not able to hold the lead. With some opportunities to tie the game late, the Queens rallied multiple times but couldn't get their shots to drop and lost the battle with one last shot at the buzzer to win the game that hit the rim and bounced out. Leading the Queens in scoring were Ali Haskel and Aubrey Fergurson with 12, Carryn Sattler with 8, and Lilly Hankins with 7. Leading rebounder in the MAC Conference Aubrey Fergurson continued to grab every board she could and ended up with 18. Sattler also had 11 boards while Haskell had 4 steals. The Varsity Queens move to 3-5 on the season and play Muscatine on the road on Friday and Geneseo on Saturday.
Last night the River Kings traveled to Davenport West High School to take on the Falcons. The Sophomore Kings battled hard but lost to the Falcons by a score of 69 -- 50. The Varsity Kings played a closer game but ended up on the short end, losing 65 -- 54. The Kings were led by Cole Shannon with 18 points and Jordan Coleman who had a double--double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Kings are back in action this Friday as they travel to Muscatine. GO KINGS!!

The River Queen Wrestlers beat Dewitt in a thriller last night in Yourd Gymnasium. The Queens were led by Alaina Carpenter, Lauren Whitney, Cambrie McLoyd, Jaedyn Lemon and Molly Steiner all picking up big wins! Liv Lonergan and Akemah McClendon picked up some extra points winning by forfeit. The meet came down to the last match with Jharia Knox avoiding bonus points and ultimately winning the meet for the River Queens! Great job by all! Thank you to all of those who came out to support! The River Queens return to action Saturday at their home tournament! Come on out and continue to support the Queens!

The Clinton Public Library will be having a “Mustache Movie Night” on Friday December 27th from 4:30 to 7:00. Come hang out and watch a movie with a mustache themed minigame and a Popcorn Bar.
After Winter Break we only have eight school days and three After School Tutoring opportunities before finals to get any missing work finished and turned in.

Your River King swimmers traveled to Bettendorf last night to take on the Bulldogs. The Kings lost to the Bulldogs. The Kings were undermanned but still swam tough. The Kings did manage to take a 1, 2 finish in the 500 Free by Zimmer and Todtz. Other nice swims by Dornbush and Wright. The Kings host their annual Holiday Invitational tomorrow starting at 10am. Kings and Queens, we need your help with timers for the meet. Remember you can receive volunteer hours towards NHS and Graduation. Come cheer on the KINGS!!
The River King wrestlers lost to a tough North Scott team last night 63-12. Danny Peters and Brady Jennings wrestled great and knocked off ranked wrestlers . Brody Harrington also wrestled well and won by a decision. Nolan Eggers won his JV match. The Kings travel Saturday to the DeWitt Invitational.

Student Council will be running a school-wide rock paper scissors contest on Friday. Please ask a student council rep or a teacher for more information.
iJAG will be hosting their Annual 2-Ball Basketball tournament on Friday December 20th. Preliminary rounds will be played during 5th hour with the championship game during the pep assembly. The cost to play is $5.00 so if you think you got what it takes please see Mrs. Harris or Mrs Lemon-Levy in room S154 to get signed up.
