Attention all River Queens- The time has finally come. It's Wrestling Season!! River Queen Wrestling will be starting next Monday, November 3rd. If you have interest in or questions about becoming a River Queen Wrestler feel free to reach out to either Coach Dylan Schneeberger or Coach Eric Spittler with your questions. We are looking forward to potentially having the largest Women's Wrestling team in Clinton High School history. We would love to have you be a part of making history with us!
This week is Red Ribbon Week, and everyone can come down to sign the banner to pledge to be drug-free. It will be available to sign all week and it is located in the hallway near Mrs. DeVries' room-S145. Signing the banner is a great way to show your support for Red Ribbon Week and our fight against drug use.

To make sure you get all announcements for pre-season meetings, conditioning, and tryout dates, you need to be in our official Google Classroom. This will be our main hub for all team communication. This is a great opportunity to earn college credit, while also the possibility of earning a credential at the completion of a program. Please check your e-mail for a registration link to the event. Pickleball Club will have a meeting on Thursday, October 30th during FLEX 1 in room A106. If you are interested in joining but are unable to attend, talk to Mr. E. Haan in room A106.
Conferences are Today, Oct 28 and Wed, Oct 29 from 4-7:30pm.
Also during conference time there will be FAFSA help for the seniors & their guardians who would like it. This will be on the 2nd floor of the academic building. If you are interested please come to at least one of the next practices during Flex 1. The dates are today 10/28 and Friday 10/31. All practices will be held in the counseling office. The varsity River Kings football team welcomed Davenport West to Coan Field Friday night for senior night. The Kings came out on fire and dominated the Falcons from start to finish on route to a 49-14 victory. Offensively, the Kings spread the wealth with 7 different touchdown scorers. Touchdown scorers for the Kings included Ethan Carpenter, Konnor Schroeder, Nolan Eggers, Maddux Cooley, Jordan Gruhn, Marshall Johnson, and Cooper Belitz. Carter Frame added an interception on defense for the Kings. What a way to send out our seniors. We want to thank them for their commitment to the program for the last four years. Thank you to the all the fans that sent these boys out victorious. Go Kings!
On Friday night, the River Kings hosted the Falcons from Davenport West in the final game of the season. The Sophomore squad started the night's action and won in dominating fashion over West, defeating the Falcons by a score 0f 52-0!! Scoring in the first half for the Kings was Noah Fergurson on a 6 yard touchdown run and Liam Petersen who scored from 17 yards out. Nolan Marsh had a timely interception that stalled a West drive. Then, completing the first half scoring was Desean Mack on a 13-yard pass play from Petersen. The second half was more of the same. Micah Tague set the Kings up with great field position returning the 2nd half kickoff 50 yards, leading to a Petersen score on a1 yd sneak. Javin Bell added a 4-yard run in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, Zane Weaver showed off his sprinting skills by beating the defense around the edge for a 26-yard score. Tague added a 15-yard run for a touchdown, and Bastien Balous blocked a punt and picked up the loose ball to return it 27 yards to round out the scoring for Clinton!!! The Sophomore Kings finish their season with a 7-2 record!!! Thank you to all of the supporters who came out to cheer on the young Kings week after week, it means so much to these young student-athletes!!! GO KINGS!!!!

This weekend five choir students auditioned for the Iowa All State Choir at Iowa City West. Jerzi Hill, Lucas Clark, Alyson Pulido and Haylee House represented CHS with excellent auditions. Jade Stuart was selected as one of 26 sopranos from our region to sing in November with the Iowa All State Choir. This is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations Jade!

Students are NOT allowed to park in the East academic wing lot or the East side of the South lot. Those parking lots by the A wing & S wing are for Staff only. Students who park there will get tickets. Students who drive to school need to park legally in the North student lot or at the WEST end of the South lot by Coan field.

Capri College is having a Career Fair on Wednesday, November 12. Interested students will be able to shadow a class based on their choice(Cosmetology, Esthetics, or Massage Therapy) and will also have time for hands-on activities with instructors and students. The bus will leave at 10:30 and return to CHS at 3:00. Space is limited. Any teacher can get you signed up. Must be signed up by Wednesday, October, 29.
Conferences will be next week on Tues, Oct 28 and Wed, Oct 29 from 4-7:30pm.
The Celebration of Music is on Sunday Oct. 26. Start your day with the band's pancake breakfast from 8am till 12pm, tickets are $7 from a band member ahead of time, $25 for families of 4 or more, and $8 at the door. There will be pancakes, sausage and eggs along with a cold beverage or coffee! The Celebration of Music performance then starts on Coan field at 3pm. This part is Free.

Last night the River King and Queen Cross Country team competed in the State Qualifying Meet. The varsity boys placed 9th were led by CJ, Estes, Kolton Lorion, Cael Schwarz, Maddox Mojeiko, Conner Roberts, and Anthony Sayson. The River Queen varsity team placed fifth behind #1 PV, #11 Linn-Mar, #14 Cedar Rapids Prairie, and #20 Davenport Central. The Queens were led by state qualifiers Cambyl Sattler, 9th place, Carryn Sattler, 11th place, and Aubrey Rivers, 18th place. Alli Haskell, Natalia Connolly, and Kirstin Bengtson rounded out the scoring for the Queens. The squad ran hard and represented Clinton and CHS well.

As we continue to celebrate Manufacturing month, on Wednesday, October 22, during both flexes, CHS will be hosting Mandy Parchert, who works in Human Resources as the Manager for University and Community Relations for HNI Corporation, a leading manufacturer of workplace furnishings and residential building products headquartered in Muscatine, IA. She is also the Chairperson for the Mississippi Valley Advanced Manufacturing Sector Board. Mandy will be joined by a representative from the Skyline Center and also someone from Black Cat Wear Part. They will be located in or near the commons area. Please stop by to learn more about manufacturing in our area.

The Building Futures Career Expo, at the QCCA Expo Center, provides a hands-on chance to explore careers in the construction trades! Try out real activities, see equipment in action, learn directly from industry professionals. The Expo takes place on Tuesday, November 18th. The Bus leaves CHS at 10:00am and returns at 1:30pm. All grades are welcomed and we still have room for more students to register. Any of your teachers can get you registered. The registration deadline is Wednesday, October 22. Every participant receives a FREE lunch and event T-shirt!

The River Queen Swimmers finished up their regular season against some tough competition last night at the Morrison Reverse Invitational. The JV Queens pulled out a second place finish and had season best swims from Norah Bradley, Candis Hamstra, Kennedi Briggs and Stella Jackson. The Varsity Queens finished in 3rd place highlighted by 2nd place finishes in the 400 free relay (Lahna Schroeder, Grace Ewer, Mia Wright and Eloise Brisch), 100 Back (Schroeder) and 100 Fly (Brisch). The Queens now look to finish the season strong at the Muscatine JV Invite on November 1 and Varsity Regionals on November 8.
