Those interested in Boys basketball need to get their white card before the first practice on Nov. 18th. Join us for open gym Sunday from 5pm to 7pm, Monday, & Thursday from 6:30pm to 8pm. Happy KNOW-vember! The CHS Library is hosting the FIRST ANNUAL KNOW-vember reading challenge! Students and staff are challenged to read a NONFICTION Book this month and enter to win a prize basket of fall goodies! Entry forms can be found with your ELA teachers and the library. Entries are due Tuesday December 3rd. Happy Reading! Please check your email to fill out a form from Mrs. Shultz if you would be interested in open lunch through phase 3 of construction. This is not an available option for Freshmen at this time. Winter weather might be coming. We have to make sure all students are ready for the possibility of a virtual learning day. If you don't have the ability to connect to the internet at home please email an administrator for help! Teachers will have you practice signing on to google meets next week! Girls interested in wrestling this year need to get their white card before Monday's first practice. There will also be a mandatory team meeting and open mat on Sunday at 6pm. If you do not have your white card before Monday you will not be allowed to practice! SENIORS: Upcoming College and Career Visits - November 13th - Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and IBEW Local 145. November 20th- Clinton Community College fall campus day- For seniors who are planning to attend CCC after high school. December 4th - University of Wisconsin - Platteville. For seniors who are considering UW Platteville and have not yet had an opportunity to visit the campus. Important: For all the college and career visits, students MUST stop by room A227 to sign up, or e-mail Marla Schultz College and Career Transition Counselor at marla.schultz@csdkq.org for more information and to receive special absence forms. If you are interested in cheering for basketball or wrestling, grab an application from Mrs. Kooi's desk. Clinics are Monday Nov. 4 4-6pm and Tuesday Nov 5 4-5pm. There will be a River Queen Wrestling meeting/open mat this Sunday at 6pm. If you plan on wrestling this year please attend this meeting. If you cannot make it please let a coach know! CHS Conferences are tonight in the Commons from 4 pm to 7 pm and tomorrow 2pm to 7pm. Mrs. Krueger's classroom will have a special guest speaker on Thursday, October 31 at 2:45 pm in room A 317. The topic of the presentation is the benefits of being bilingual in a workplace. If you would like to attend the presentation, please let Mrs. Krueger know ahead of time. After-School Tutoring is being offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library! There is no cost. We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! Don’t wait if you are behind in a class. Please check the due back date on your library books. If they are overdue and you are still reading them please stop in and get them renewed, otherwise please return them so someone else can read them. Thank you. He has done everything from starting new agriculture classes to driving the bus to CCC every period! Thanks for all you do Mr. Jensen!!! Congratulations to Elena Brisch for being accepted as a percussionist into the All State Orchestra! On Saturday, 121 percussionists across the state auditioned for the All State ensembles. 13 of those percussionists were selected, and the top 5 scores were placed into the All State Orchestra. Elena is officially one of the top 5 percussionists in the state of Iowa. Elena will travel to Iowa State University on November 21st to rehearse with the All State Orchestra and perform in the All State Festival Concert on November 23rd. Way to go Elena! On Friday, the River Kings traveled to take on the Clear Creek Amana Clippers in their final football game of the season. The Sophomore River Kings ended their season with a hard fought loss of 30-19. Although the score doesn't show it, the defense kept the game close in the 4th quarter with the Kings amassing 4 turnovers! It was a great season and we are very proud of the progress and growth of the squad. The Varsity Kings put up a solid fighting effort, but in the end fell to the Clippers 56--22. Thank you to the Senior Kings for their years of service, and thank you to the students, staff and fans of Clinton High for all of the support for the River King Football program!! This was a special season we will remember for a long time!!!! Joke of the day What does an evil hen lay? …Deviled eggs. Today is the last day to get your River Queen Soccer gear!! Due to the Loaner chargers not getting returned, the library may not have any to borrow. So try to borrow a charger from a friend/classmate if you forget yours. If you borrowed a loaner charger from the library you need to return it NOW. If you need to purchase a new charger, please bring $15.00 to the library. Join us for READ A LATTE in the library. Come in & read or hang out with friends as you sip on a latte in the library. Mon, March 25th right after school till around 4:20. Football cheerleading applications are now available in the office. Clinic will be Mon. & Tues. March 25 & 26 4-6pm in Yourd Gym. The tryout will be March 28 starting at 4pm in Yourd. You must bring a completed application to one of the clinic days.
