For those of you staying at school for lunch: You can eat lunch in the Commons or Music ensemble rooms only. You can NOT eat lunch in the Library or the Hallways. If you are staying for lunch you need to be in the Commons or one of the music ensemble rooms.
Coach Glahn and Coach Rasche want you! Join spring tennis and be a part of a successful program where everyone gets to play! It's great fun, you'll also love that you will be learning new skills, getting in shape, making new friends that will have strong bonds for years to come, and you will have a great lifetime sport even after you graduate. You'll have a "Smashing" good time on the tennis team, so come after school to the commons to get your materials needed for March Tennis!!!
Join us in the library for “Read a Latte” Tuesday Feb 11 from 7:40 am until homeroom or Monday Feb 17 right after school until 4:15.

If you or your team would place during the competition your team would move on to the scholarship round held on April 10th. Each student in the 1st place team would receive $1000, 2nd place members would receive $750, and 3rd place would receive $250. If you are interested in this simulation competition please come to Mr. Pataska by Monday, February 10th to learn more about the opportunities.
To juniors and seniors who are ordering an AP poster, you will need to get your money to Mrs. Leafgreen today. If you aren't sure how much you owe or have other questions, email her.

The River King wrestlers lost to Davenport North last night 44-31. Winning for the Kings were Jakob Litherland, Brody Harrington, Alfonzo Herrera, Danny Peters, Brady Jennings and DaMarius Robinson. Winning their JV matches were Alijah Russell, Liam Petersem, Cormac Nichols.

Attention Students interested in Marketing, Management, & Accounting. We have the opportunity to compete in the Titan Jr. Achievement Experience on April 3rd at St. Ambrose University. Last Saturday two groups of FBLA presenters performed at the Virtual District Leadership Conference. Lila Keister and Bryanna Samuels presented on Social Media Marketing Strategies and placed 3rd. Aubrey Rivers presented on Graphic Design, placed 4th. Congrats to all!
FBLA offers all students the opportunity to develop leadership and creates valuable connections with other academically driven students from across Iowa. If you would like to be part of FBLA and the State Leadership Conference in March please come to the FBLA meeting Today right after school to begin registration and prep for the conference.

Girls and Boys Tennis gets started in March, so don't miss your chance to be a part of the fun. Even if you have never played before, come and bring a friend. You'll learn a great life time sport. Besides you "newbies" to the sport, we will also be carrying some of the top players in the state! Forty one years of a tradition of success, so come be a part of the 2025 tennis team! Calling all Girls interested in River Queen Track and Field there will be a signup on February 11th at 3:30 in the Yourd Lobby. Please make sure you stop in and see Coach Steen to sign up and be a part of the fun season the staff has planned for you.
Sophomores and Juniors, Would you like to learn more about how you can earn college credits while in high school and potentially graduate with a certificate in programs like Advanced Manufacturing, Business, Construction, Automotive, Healthcare, and Teacher Prep, just to name a few? On February 10th you can! Look for an email inviting you to this great opportunity. If you misplaced it, and want to know more, please email CCTC Marla Schultz at marla.schultz@csdkq.org or connect with your high school counselor.
Spring Tennis will soon be here. The introductory meeting for girls and boys tennis will be a quick meeting to get some handouts and get signed up. Just stop in to get the information and you are out the door on February 7th. Hope to see you all at the tennis meeting, in the commons, right after school on Friday, the 7th.

After-School Tutoring is being offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 - 4:45 in the New Library! There is no cost. We have staff in most of the core classes available! Please ask a CHS teacher or administrator if you would like to attend! This is a great way to get work completed that was missed while sick.
If you borrow something from the library don’t forget to return it. Loaner computers, headphones, loaner chargers, or books. Items are checked out to you so if you don’t return them you will be charged. Reminder Loaner chargers are to be borrowed for ONE class period and then returned so others can borrow them. They also have late fees of $1 each day they are overdue.

The River King wrestlers finished in 7th place last night at the JV Mac tournament with 80.5 points. Placing was as follows. MAC JV 106 Jason Wheat 2nd. MAC JV 106 Alijah Russell 3rd. MAC JV 120 Scott Pasakarnis 5th. MAC JV 132 Hunter Ball 3rd. MAC JV 138 Logan Spooner 8th. MAC JV 150 Eric Harris 3rd. MAC JV 175 Landon Clark 8th. MAC JV 215 Kaden Walters 7th. The Coaches are extremely proud of how far the guys have come since the beginning of the season. All of the guys wrestled tough and they each continue to get better every time they step on the mat. Along with choosing to do the right things off the mat also. Well done guys!

The River Queen Basketball team swept the North Scott Lancers with the JV starting things off with a convincing 39-25 win in the opener. Phoebe Levine led the way with 13 points with Kassidy Eggers and Samantha Powell adding 8. Arra Greene led the team in rebounding with 5 boards and Powell had 4. The Varsity Queens kept it rolling and eventually closed the game out with a solid victory 52-47. The Queens never trailed the Lancers and held their ground in the end with timely shots and making their free throws moving their record to 6-10 on the season. Leading the Queens in scoring were Carryn Sattler with 18 points with freshmen guards Alli Haskell and Lilly Hankins both adding 13 and 10. Aubrey Fergerson added 15 boards and Haskell added 7 assists and 3 steals. The Queens want to thank the student body for their support last night during the game and band members who all provided a great atmosphere to play in! The Queens take on Pleasant Valley Spartans at home on Friday.
Last night the River Kings took on the Lancers from North Scott high school in a MAC Conference battle. Despite their heroic efforts, the Kings fell to North Scott, the Freshmen losing 39-57, the Sophomore squad dropping their contest 51-75, and the Varsity Kings were defeated by a score of 59-81. The River Kings are back in action this Friday night when they travel to Pleasant Valley to take on the Spartans! Congratulations to the River Queens on their wins last night!! Thanks for the effort to both the Kings and the Queens!! Keep grinding!!!
Your River King Swimmers ended their regular season on a high note. The Kings traveled to Morrison to take on the Mustangs. Kings were victorious with a score of 60 - 30. The Kings won 5 of the 8 events. Burland, Dornbush, Haskell, Heath, Todtz, Srp, Wright and Zimmer were all involved with 1st places. Thanks to all the fans for their support this season. Kings travel to Muscatine this Saturday for JV Invitational and to Dubuque the following Saturday for the District meet. GO KINGS!!
