Tonight's River Queens Soccer Game: TIME CHANGE

Great work last night, River Kings!

Congratulations to Clinton High School FBLA participants at the State leadership conference this weekend. Lila Keister, Bryanna Samuels, Tamara Soto, Aurora Howard and Aubrey Rivers competed in various business topics including the following events: Human Resource Management, Visual Design, Marketing, Business Management, and Social Media Marketing.
Aubrey Rivers won 1st place in the Business Management competition, besting all in the state of Iowa. Aubrey first made the top 15 in the state by performing well on an assessment, then was given a prompt to present a solution to a problem which was a 10 minute performance. Congrats Aubrey and all other FBLA participants!

The kings split their first regular season games against Maquoketa on Monday night, with JV taking home a victory, before varsity lost a tough, physical matchup. The JV boys were led by Alonso Aguila, who opened the scoring on a beautiful assist from Alan Cruz. BJ Cooley added to the scoring, taking advantage of a poor goal kick and burying it for a second. Goals from Landon Bork and Alan Cruz, assisted by Jaxon Spooner and Brayden Schadowsky, topped off the 4-0 victory for the JV boys. The varsity boys showed some promising growth against a strong Maquoketa varsity squad. BJ Cooley tallied 12 saves on the night. Man of the Match for the Kings was Gabriel Rocha. Gabi showed great composure and tenacity in defense, and was consistently looking to play dangerous passes to spring the attack. The kings are back in action on Saturday at the Solon Soccer Triangular.
Last night, the River Queens traveled to West Liberty to take on the Comets in their opening match of the girls soccer season. The defense was tough on both sides but the Queens managed to take the lead by halftime on a goal by Shayna Nettles with an assist from Jayda Skiff. In the second half, West Liberty managed to squeeze one shot past the Queens defense, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Livia Watters dominated in goal on defense with 8 saves! The JV Queens showed tremendous growth and won their match 2-1. Scoring goals for Clinton were Kirstin Bengtson and Alyssa Determan. And stopping the Comets attack again and again was Brooklyn Cooley who had a fantastic game, recording 9 saves on the night!. The Queens are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Brady Street Stadium to take on Davenport Central. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the girls last night! Go Queens!!
