The River Queen Track and Field team will be having a sign up and schedule pick up on Thursday February 5th after school in the lobby of Yourd gym. Please stop by and sign up and get a schedule so you know what's going on as the season starts on Feb 23rd. This will take 5 mins or less. ?s email Coach Steen
Remember the library is still a library during Flex times. If you are coming to the library during flex the voices need to be kept low or off so other students can work or read. If talking with your friends is your plan, please spend your flex in the commons. You are also not allowed to eat lunch items in the library.

Congratulations River Kings for an outstanding performance at the JV Mac Tournament yesterday. The entire team fought hard and wrestled with tenacity. Placing for the Kings were Cormac Nichols 2nd, Angel Lines 3rd, Diego Donaire, Liam Petersen placed 4th. 5th place winners were Oliver Steward , Bastien Balous and Magnus Kjormoe. Jason Wheat and Roger Schumacher placed 6th. Riley Engelkins placed 7th and Titus Moody placed 8th. Outstanding Job wrestlers!
Congratulations River King Varsity wrestlers on going 3-0 at Bellevue last night. The Kings had decisive wins against Bellevue 60-15, Postville 68-12 and finished their night with a 75-4 victory over Midland. Mark Stoddard, Carter Cant, Jakob Litherland, Camdynn Bray, Brody Harrington, Alfonso Herrera, Chase Collender, Isaiah Lines, Danny Peters, Nolan Eggers, Damarius Robinson, Cooper Cooley , Hayden Chandler and Sloan Weaver all contributed with big wins on the night. Fantastic job wrestlers! The Kings head to the MAC Conference tournament Saturday at Assumption.
Yesterday, January 29th, the CHS Varsity Girls bowling team attended the MAC Conference Tournament. The Girls took 1st Place and are the 2026 MAC Conference Champions. After 15 games of Baker they had a score of 2898 and were seeded 1st ahead of Bettendorf with 2718, North Scott with a 2519, and Pleasant Valley with a 2427. In brackets the River Queens faced the Spartans and won with scores of 189 and 238 to their 145 and 207. This put them into the Championship bracket where they faced the Bettendorf Bulldogs. They kept their momentum and beat the Bulldogs with scores of 215 and 188 to their 168 and 180 becoming the 2026 MAC Conference Champions! They finished the season undefeated in meets at 8 – 0 and took home three tournament championships and two 2nd place finishes. The River Queens will be attending their State Qualifying Meet on Monday, February 2nd at their home alley Plaza Bowl at 10AM. Great job this year and good luck at your State Qualifier!

The River Queen basketball team picked up two good wins Tuesday night against the North Scott Lancers in the Pit. The JV Queens came out hot scoring the first 22 points of the game and ending with a score of 59-25. Scoring for the Queens were Kassidy Eggers with 15 points, Audry Gruhn with 9, Lilly Schneeberger 9, Tenley Cewe with 7 and Zoey Scott with 5. Rebounding leaders were Gruhn with 8 and Phoebe Levine with 7. Assist leaders were Cewe with 7 and Levine with 4 while steals leaders were Schneeberger with 4 and Levine with 3. The JV Queens moved to 10-3 on the season. The Varsity Queens avenged a heartbreaking loss earlier in the season by beating #12 ranked North Scott 54-35. Jhaliana Guy scored 23 with Alli Haskell 16, Carryn Sattler 7, Lilly Hankins 6. Rebounding leaders were Aubrey Fergurson with 10 and Sattler with 9. The Queens moved to 10-7 on the year and have now recorded the most wins since the 2009-2010 season. The Queens are on the road on Friday against Pleasant Valley in a pivotal game for conference standings.

The River King Swimmers closed out their regular season last night in dominant fashion winning both sides of a double dual 133-36 over North Scott and 136-14 over Morrison on Senior Night. Highlights of the night were a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place sweep of the 100 Free by Dylan Todtz, Jayden Krogmann and Vinnie Srp, as well as 1st and 2nd place finishes in all three relays, 200 Free (Cale Lampe and Kade Raasch), 50 Free (Todtz and Krogmann) and 100 Back (Asher Dornbush and Lucas Clark). The Kings will finish their season with the Muscatine JV Invite this Saturday, followed by Varsity Districts at Dubuque Hempstead on February 7th.

The River Queen wrestling team is resilient, they don’t back down from a challenge and they continue to improve. What these ladies have accomplished this season is nothing short of amazing! We’ve lost numerous wrestlers, battled through illness and much more, yet they continue to show up and compete. Our Queens took 3rd today at the Louisa Muscatine Girls Invitational and we saw a lot of great matches. We learned some hard lessons, but we couldn’t be more proud. Receiving a Division I rating were 3 ensemble acting pieces, 2 improv groups, 2 solo mimes, a reader's theater, a musical theater, one radio news broadcasting, and one short film! Receiving a Division II rating were one radio news and one short film. This is an incredible accomplishment! What a great day to be a River King and Queen!
On Saturday, January 24th, the CHS Varsity bowling teams attended the 15 team Muscatine Invite at Rosebowl in Muscatine. The varsity boys finished in 15th place with a 2628. The Varsity Girls finished in 2nd place with a 3081 behind Louisa-Muscatine who had a 3142. Great job ladies taking 2nd Place.

We will be offering the ASVAB here at CHS on January 29th. Yes, this is the military entrance exam but it is also a career exploration tool. The River Queen wrestling team is resilient, they don’t back down from a challenge and they continue to improve. What these ladies have accomplished this season is nothing short of amazing! We’ve lost numerous wrestlers, battled through illness and much more, yet they continue to show up and compete. Our Queens took 3rd today at the Louisa Muscatine Girls Invitational and we saw a lot of great matches. We learned some hard lessons, but we couldn’t be more proud. The River Queens played two games Thursday night against the Bettendorf Bulldogs in Yourd gymnasium. The JV Queens pulled out a tight one winning 40-38 and holding off a late charge by the Bulldogs and avenging an earlier loss in the season at Bettendorf. Audry Gruhn led with 17 points and 14 rebounds with 7 other players getting into the scoring column. Kassidy Eggers added 9 rebounds, Addy Cramm 6 boards and Tenley Cewe and Phoebe Levine 5 boards. The Varsity Queens faced the #15 ranked team in 5A last night whom they had beaten earlier in the season. The Queens were solid in the 1st half on both ends of the court building a 26-21 lead. Some hot shooting from the Bulldogs in the 2nd half helped them gain the lead and eventually put the Queens away 73-59. Jhaliana Guy led all scorers with 37 points and is now the school record for most points in a game which was held by Shauna Geronzin! Alli Haskell added 9 points and Carryn Sattler and Aubrey Fergurson added 6 each. Fergurson also added 11 rebounds. The Queens play on Tuesday against North Scott at the Pit where they will hope to bring out some revenge against the Lancers after an earlier season loss.
Congratulations River King wrestlers on their strong 8th place finish in the rugged 17 team Bob Lueders Invitational on Saturday. The Kings had 11 placewinners on the day! Danny Peters placed 2nd, Brady Harrington 5th, 6th place winners were Damarius Robinson, Angel Lines and Sloan Weaver. 7th place winners were Jakob Litherland, Hunter Ball, Ty Sander-Welzien, and 8th place winners were Mark Stoddard, Nolan Eggers and Cooper Cooley. Great job wrestlers!
Last Friday the River Kings traveled to Bettendorf to start the second round of the MAC conference games. The freshman showed up to battle but ended up in a loss. The sophomores played a physical basketball game, competing hard in the second half but fell to the Bulldogs 36-59. Our Varsity River Kings came to play, playing great team defense and sharing the ball. Marshall Johnson led the Kings Defensive effort with 12 boards in the game, and Cole Shannon led the Kings offensive effort with his best offensive performance this season. The Kings could not hold on to a lead late in the game, falling to the Bulldogs 55-60. The Kings are back on the road against North Scott this Tuesday in a boy-girl doubleheader!
