The first day of Finals (Thursday) is a “B” day so the finals taken tomorrow are the 5, 6, 7, & 8th blocks.
Remember to get items borrowed from the Library returned. Loaner computers, chargers, headphones, library books. The library needs them back please.
Don’t forget about iJAG’s Canned Food Drive. We are asking students and staff to bring in non-perishable food items that will go to the Vince Jetter Community Center. The drive ends January 16th. For more information please email Mrs.Lemon-Levy or Mrs.Harris.

It is officially Sweater Weather at Clinton High School. Stop by the library and check out the staff-designed sweaters displayed near the library doors. Pick your favorite, head to the circulation desk to grab a voting slip and cast your vote. Students and staff are both encouraged to participate. Voting is open now through Friday, January 16. Only 7 people have voted, the designs are really cool, come check them out.
We will be offering the ASVAB here at CHS on January 29th. Yes, this is the military entrance exam but it is also a career exploration tool. So if you would like help exploring careers this would be a great tool. We do not report anything to the military. Please email Mr. Avise - Rouse if interested or have any questions.
River King Basketball hosted Davenport Assumption at home last night. The freshman team kicked off the game battling early but fell to the Freshman Knights 30-55. The Sophomore Kings followed and came out firing but ended up with a losing score of 27-56. The Varsity Kings came out swinging against the Knights. In a balanced effort with 3 Kings scoring in double figures, The Varsity boys beat Assumption 56-50. This win marks the first time since the 2015-2016 season that the Varsity has beaten Assumption. Great job River Kings! The boys are back in action against Davenport North at home Friday night!
On Tuesday, the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet vs Davenport West at Plaza Bowl. The varsity boys lost 2405 to Davenport West’s 2507. Both the girls bowled unopposed. The varsity girls got a win with a score of 2593 and the JV girls got a win with a score of 1555. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Cutter Overton with a 2 game series of 334, Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 362. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Tucker Sechrest with a 2 game series of 357, Kiara Krueger with a 2 game series of 364. Top scorers for the Girls JV were: Paisley Damon with a 2 game series of 246, Carli Brunson with a 2 game series of 314.
The River Queens basketball teams played Davenport Assumption last night with the JV Queens picking up their 6th win in a row winning 40-28 and improving to 9-3. Lilly Schneeberger had 17 points with 5 threes and Kassidy Eggers and Audry Gruhn both had 6 boards. Tenley Cewe added 4 assists and 3 steals. The Varsity Queens fell 56-42 after a late charge cutting the lead to 6 in the 4th qtr. Jhaliana Guy had 23 points. Aubrey Fergurson had 15 rebounds. The Queens play again on Friday for a boy-girl doubleheader in Yourd gym.

The River Queen Wrestling team competed in the 3rd Annual River Queen Duals this past Saturday. The Queens dropped their first match against Milton, but followed that up with two strong performances against Geneseo and Muscatine. The Queens fell just short in the championship against Burlington 48-33. Great job ladies, we are proud of your performance. The River Queens return to action Wednesday at the MAC tournament in Davenport.

Congratulations River King Wrestlers on placing 3rd out of 10 teams at the Northeast Invitational Saturday. Winning his first Varsity Championship was Riley Engelkins! Great job Riley! 2nd place winners were; Mark Stoddard and Adis Ravmanoski. 3rd place winners were; Oliver Steward, Alfonzo Herrera, Jack George, and Diego Donaire. 4th place winners were Jakob Litherland, Griffen Keefer, Isaiah Lines, Liam Petersen, and Angel Lines. Great Job Wrestlers!
The CHS Boys Swim team traveled to Dubuque on Saturday to compete in the Hempstead Mustang Invite. The 9-team Invite had some stellar competition, with lots of previous state qualifiers and great teams from the area. Though the Kings finished in 7th place, they competed hard and had a number of great swims and strong finishes. Walking away from the meet with season or lifetime best swims were Jayden Krogmann, Cale Lampe, Trey Dykstra, Lucas Clark, Xavier Wright, Jace Burgland, Vinnie Srp and Cameron Zimmer. The Kings travel to Davenport West on Thursday to take on the Falcons.
Friday, the CHS Bowling Teams had a conference meet vs Central DeWitt at DeWitt Lanes. The varsity boys lost 2301 to Central DeWitt’s 2992. Both the girls had solid performances and won their meets. The varsity girls won with a score of 2547 to Central DeWitt’s 1702 the JV girls won with a score of 1565 to Central DeWitt’s 1308. Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Cutter Overton with a 2 game series of 328, Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 360. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Grace Hake with a 2 game series of 354, Kiara Krueger with a 2 game series of 392. Top scorers for the Girls JV were: Carli Brunson with a 2 game series of 267, Keira Palmer with a 2 game series of 292.
The River Queens varsity basketball team played two games over the weekend. The Varsity beat Muscatine on Friday night 53-41. Jhaliana Guy had 20 points followed by Carryn Sattler with 8, and Olivia Schneeberger, Alli Haskell, and Aubrey Fergurson all with 6. Fergurson added 12 boards while Sattler added 8. Haskell added 6 assists while Lilly Hankins and Guy added 3 steals. In Saturday's game, the Queens faced a tough Sterling team in the Iowa/Illinois Shootout and fell 57-50 after making a run in the 4th qtr and cutting it to one point with just a minute to go. Guy led the way with 31 points. Haskell added 10. Sattler handed out 4 assists and 5 boards while Fergurson also added 5 boards. The Queens play away at Assumption tomorrow night in a pivotal conference game.
The River Queen JV basketball team moved to 8-3 on the season with two more wins over the weekend. On Friday the Queens won 47-19 against Muscatine with 9 girls in the scoring column. Tenley Cewe led the way with 10 points and 4 steals while Lilly Schneeberger added 9 points. On Saturday, the girls played a tough game against Riverdale and won a tight one 50-47. Cewe again led the way with 14 while Arra Greene added 9. Greene also added 8 boards as did Kassidy Eggers. They have now won 5 games in a row. Way to go Queens!
Saturday, the CHS Bowling Teams held the Clinton Invitational at Plaza Bowl with ten schools participating. The varsity boys had a score of 2587 and finished in 8th place. The varsity girls took 1st place with a score of 2717 ahead of Louisa-Muscatine’s 2661. The JV Girls also took 1st place with a score of 1891 ahead of Benton’s 1877. Individually Clinton had three bowlers make the All-Tournament team. Cutter Overton with a 2 game score of 419 made the boy’s All-Tournament Team and Grace Hake and Emily Whitehead both with a 408 2 game score made the girl’s All-Tournament Team. Great job Kings and Queens!!! Top scorers for Boys Varsity were: Ryan Greve with a 2 game series of 369, Cutter Overton with a 2 game series of 419. Top scorers for Girls Varsity were: Grace Hake with a 2 game series of 408, Emily Whitehead with a 2 game series of 408. Top scorers for the Girls JV were: Carli Brunson with a 2 game series of 287, Keira Palmer with a 2 game series of 364.

Full Mind Tutoring, an online tutoring session, is for any students at Clinton High School. Tutoring will be available on Monday & Wednesday evenings 7pm-8pm, as well as on Saturday mornings 10am - 11am. They can help students with most core and elective classes! To access the sessions, students need to log in through Clever.

The River King wrestlers lost to the #4 ranked Bettendorf Bulldogs Thursday night at Bettendorf 68-5. Danny Peters was the lone winner for the varsity claiming his 100th career win with a 22-6 Technical Fall. Great job Danny! Winning their JV matches were Magnus Kjormoe, Angel Lines, Chase Collender and Riley Engelkins. Great job wrestlers!

Students taking CCC classes, either online or through the academy during the second semester, are required to attend a meeting during FLEX 1 today (Thursday, 1/8) in the Theatre if they didn’t attend the meeting yesterday. Attendance is important and will be taken. If you have any questions, please email Marla at marla.schultz@csdkq.org.
