First response cont.: "I love when they recognize me and share with me what they remember about our year together. I’ve now started to have the children of my previous students in class which makes me feel old but is also so amazing to see them as parents now."

On Friday, The YWCA Clinton Empowerment Center shared:
Thank you, Clinton Middle School students and Leo's Club, for choosing YWCA Clinton Empowerment Center for your Coins for Cause fundraiser! Students raised over $5,000 to help people experiencing homelessness in our community and showed that every individual, regardless of age, has the power to make a profound difference! Thank you so much for supporting the work we do and believing everyone deserves a home. Pie throwing and a TV raffle completed the festivities this afternoon!

Big congrats to Clinton Middle School 7th graders Grace Griswold & Piper Jennings — aka Retro Readers — for taking 2nd place in the Eastern Iowa Regional Middle School Battle of the Books! 📚
They tied with PVJH’s Forest Fires (485 pts) and crushed it, reading all 15 Iowa Teen Award books for 2024-25!
Only 2 teammates (you can have 3!) and they still made it to the top!
Grace and Piper did an incredible job representing CMS and CCSD!

April is #SchoolLibraryMonth 📚
School Library Month is the American Association of School Librarians' celebration of school librarians and school libraries.
❓Did you know...
The AASL efforts for a national School Library Month were spearheaded by Lucille Thomas, chair of the School Library Media Month Committee. Thomas was appointed by President Judy King in 1983. Their work came to fruition on April 1, 1985, when AASL officials, local and national dignitaries got the first School Library Month off to a rousing start with a ceremony on the west steps of the U.S. Capitol.
We are always grateful for our CCSD Librarians and beautiful libraries!

The Brain Health Retreat Room at the Education Advancement Center (EAC) is a new resource designed to support high school students as they work on brain health strategies. Developed by Brain Health Now, a nonprofit organization founded by Debi Butler, the space aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness while offering practical support for students' mental well-being. Through partnerships and funding from Brain Health Now and their supporters, this room is part of a broader effort to establish similar spaces in high schools across Iowa. The room is designed to be a serene, calming environment with various lighting options, positive wall appliques, and comfortable seating, creating a safe and welcoming space for students to self-regulate and reset.

The CMS choirs had 8 students attend the East-Central ICDA 7th and 8th Grade Honor Choir in Mt. Vernon last Tuesday (3/25)! They spent all day rehearsing and polishing their music, and ended the evening with an INCREDIBLE concert!
Great job to these 8 talented musicians!
